Posts in closed groups exclude the “share” option to prevent you from sharing another member’s private information which is never appropriate to do. That said, You can share external (public) content – such as might be cross-posted from a blog or a news bureau – despite the lack of a share option.
Create a post in your personal newsfeed with the privacy set to public. Then share the post you made into the closed group. Anyone who wants to share your post within that close group can then click into your original post and share from there.
As you can see in below image of facebook group post, share button is not appearing. So, the answer is your group is ‘Closed group’ or ‘Secret group’ as saved in your group settings. To get share button on every post you add, you need to change group settings to ‘Public group’.
First, navigate to the post you want to make shareable. Click the three dots symbol in the upper right corner of that post. You’ll then see options to pin it, edit it, archive it, and so on. Select the option in the middle that says “Edit Privacy.”
To share a post to a group:
- Click “Share” below your post.
- Click “Share…” in the dropdown menu.
- Select “Share in a group” and choose your group.
- Click “Post”
to share to a group:
- select Share.
- select Share to a Group.
- to you can add a description or caption for the post you’re sharing where it says “Say something about this…”
- then use the search bar to begin typing in the name of the group you wish to share to.
- select Share. And that’s it you’re done!
How do I make my group post public?

Can my friends see my posts on a closed group?
Your group posts will still be published on your Timeline, but they will only be seen by other members of that closed group. In other words, your Facebook friends who aren’t also members of that group (and members of the public at large) won’t be able to see the posts you make in a closed group.
If you do not want the Share option to be available, set “Me Only” as your default audience, then expand your post to a custom list of specific individuals. Click on the audience selector icon to the right of the time of your post. (If your set your default audience to Only Me it will look like a padlock.)
Make sure the first pull-down menu says Share On A Page You Manage. If it doesn’t, click on the arrow and select this option. Next, make sure the second pull-down menu directly below displays your Page (especially if you manage more than one). … Change the third pull-down menu to the right so you are Posting As yourself.
If you want to make a previous post shareable, after locating the post, select the ellipsis icon (•••) on the right side of the post and choose “Edit Post.” Select the first drop-down menu below your name (labeled “Friends”) and choose “Public” on the new page.
