Navigate to the menu > settings & privacy > settings > privacy settings > who can send you friend requests > everyone/friends of friends. Hence, if someone changed their privacy setting to “friends of friends”, the “Add Friend” button will not show unless you’re friends with one of the person’s friends on Facebook.
The profile owner might have put their setting of “Who can contact me” as “Friends of friends,” and you both have not any mutual friends. The person might have blocked and then unblocked you or just denied your request, which can cause the issue that you see no add friend button on their profile anymore.
Go to Account Settings » Under Privacy. Set “Who can send me friend requests” to Friends of Friends so the “Add Friend” button won’t appear on people who don’t have any friends from your own friends list.
If you don’t see the “Add as Friend” button, it’s because the person you’re trying to befriend has adjusted her privacy settings to block friend requests (see Chapter 14 for details).
You already sent a friend request, and it’s either still pending or the recipient deleted it. Now the Add Friend button doesn’t show up, so you can’t send a new friend request. If your request was deleted, Facebook has blocked you from sending that person another friend request for one whole year.
How can you tell if someone blocked you on Facebook?
To check if someone has blocked you on Facebook Messenger, try sending a message to their profile. If you get an error message that reads “This person isn’t available at the moment,” then the person has either blocked you or deactivated their account.
How can I tell if someone denied my friend request on Facebook?
Look at the gray button next to the person’s name. If the button reads “Friend Request Sent,” the person has not yet accepted or declined your friend request. If the button reads “+1 Add Friend,” the person denied your friendship request.
What does it mean when you send a friend request on Facebook and it says message?
If it says “friend request sent” and “message” on the person’s profile, then the person has yet to decide. If it says “message” only, then the person has said both “not now” AND “Mark as spam” to the request.

Why can’t I see my sent friend requests on Facebook?
On mobile (e.g. your iPhone app), go to the Friends tab on your Facebook app – it looks like two people standing next to each other. Then tap the plus-sign icon in the top right corner. There’ll be a bar of tabs along the top of your screen. … There you’ll see all of your sent friend requests on Facebook.
Can someone become a friend on Facebook without your permission?
The obvious answer to this is – no, you are mistaken. Either your account was accessed by someone else; one of your existing friends changed their name; or you did in fact accept their request and simply forgot.
